Is the hall licensed to sell Alcohol?
You need to apply for a licence to sell Alcohol at Mullumbimby Civic Memorial Hall.  Contact the Casino Liquor & Gaming Control Authority on 02 999 50333.  Application forms and information are available at www.olgr.nsw.gov.au
Allow 28 days to lodge application before an event.
No alcohol is to be consumed outside the venue including the front steps and footpath.  Security is required if serving alcohol and notification to local Police authority.

What's the deal with Alcohol at events, weddings, functions?
You do not need a licence to serve alcohol at an event or function only if alcohol is to be sold.  No alcohol is to be consumed outside the venue including the front steps and footpath.  Security is required if serving alcohol and notification to local Police authority.

What about Catering?
Commercial Gas Oven and Commercial 2 door Fridge on site. Tea & Coffee making
Facilities include hot water boiler, assorted sugar bowls, cups, plates and cutlery are provided.  No dishwasher.  Caterers are requested to leave the kitchen in a clean state.
The oven’s exhaust fan must be used when using oven to prevent heat sensors activating.  In the event of a black out the oven must not be used.  In the event the gas supply runs out, gas bottles are situated behind cage door in small building located to the rear of the hall between hall and neighbourhood centre.  In the event you do not have a key please contact the venue manager for access.

What are the Fees & Charges?
The fees & charges to use the hall have been adopted by Byron Shire Council.  Hirers applying for community rates must meat the criteria outlined in the Community Application form located at web site at www.mullumcivic.com. The Venue Manager does not have the authority to waiver or reduce fees. 

Could you tell me something about Sound Production?
Bands are required to supply their own sound production.  The Venue Manager can recommend local Sound Engineers who are familiar with mixing a band at the venue. 
All sound must be kept to the required level outlined in the POPE (Byron Shire Council Approval for place of public entertainment section 68 Local Government Act) regulations.  The sound level will be monitored at the event and any non compliance to the required sound levels will result in a loss of bond.

What are the Hours of operation?
The hall has a 12 midnight curfew 7 days per week. 
Sunday to Thursday – no noise after 10.00pm (Unless followed by a public holiday)
Friday to Saturday - no noise after 11.30pm
This is in accordance with the POE (Protection of the Environment Act 2008)

Do you have PA Hire?
The Venue can offer for hire a PA system suitable for public address or small acts at extra cost.

 What about Lighting?
The civic can supply theatre lighting at extra cost. Details can be found on the venue info equimpment list.
Refer to fees and charges for pricing. Full Lighting show and technical support can be provided at extra charge by our qualified technician.

Could you tell me the Capacity of the hall?
Total occupants if used as a public hall – 326
Total occupants if building used as a place of public entertainment with removable seating in auditorium – 305
Total occupants if persons standing – 400

How much Seating is there?
305 Black Clip Lock Chairs are provided and stored in the chair store.  The chairs are stacked 10 chairs high and are to be moved only with trolleys provided.  The chairs are to be stacked and returned to chair store after use.  Seating or other furnishings in the entertainment area shall be formed and arranged as not to impede a path of travel to any exit and have an unobstructed width of 1m clear of the fire exits.  A floor plan for theatre seating is available in Pdf format on the contact and info page of web site.

Do you have tables available?
3 Trestle tables are provided.  All other tables for functions need to be hired.

How many rooms are there for hire?
The venue is available for hire as an entire venue or the main hall and multi purpose room can be hired separately;
Entire Venue – All access including Multi purpose room, kitchen, green room and stage areas.
Multi purpose room – front room (Old library) at front of hall, access to kitchen and amenities.
Main Hall - access to kitchen, amenities, green room, stage area.

Is there a green room/band room?
Yes - with direct access to stage. 
1 x toilet, 1 x shower. 
Rear door to outside parking. 
Bar fridge supplied.

What are my responsibilites for the walls and floors?
Please do not attach nails, tape or stick posters to any painted surfaces. 
The rafters have a weight capacity of max 50kg.  Please advise Venue Manager before decorating the hall.
No ladder is provided but can be hired.  Anyone using a ladder to access ceiling must be qualified to do so and hold the relevant licences (i.e.: riggers licence, P/L insurance).
The floors are Hardwood timber while the floor in the main hall is a Sprung Hardwood floor. 

How do I make Payments?
Fees can be paid in person at Byron Shire Council, Station Street, Mullumbimby NSW 2482 by
Cash, Cheque or Credit Card. You must have your invoice with you when making payments.

Please enclose your invoice with Cheque. (Credit Cards by arrangement)
Payments are required 7 days prior to booking (unless by arrangement with the Venue Manager)

Do I have to pay a deposit?
Yes, deposits are required to secure your booking. Deposits are $100 of the booking fee and are non-refundable.

Bonds
$300 - $1000.00 (Bond amount at Venue mangers discretion)
Bonds to be held in Trust at Byron Shire Council.  Refunds within 1 to 2 weeks of the booking.

Under no circumstances will a bond not be accepted. Regular hirers with repeat usage & a good reputation of caring for the amenities will be considered but not guaranteed.

Cancellation Policy
Within 30 days 50% Cancellation Rate. Within 14 days 100% cancellation rate.
No refunds for Deposits

Where can you Smoke at the Civic?
Smoking is prohibited in all areas, including all halls, toilets, green room, kitchen, all access areas including stairwells, corridors and entrance lobbies.
Removalble ash trays are provided for outside the venue for your guests to use at a distance
of 3meters
from the above in accordance with the Smoke Free Environment Act 2000.

What about Fireproofing and fire hazards?
The Hirer will not bring into the Civic hall any scenery, curtains, properties or other goods or materials unless the same have been fireproofed in accordance with the prevailing fire code in the State of NSW and are maintained by the Hirer in a fireproofed condition to the satisfaction of the venue management while they are in the Centre.
The Hirer will not use any materials including, but not restricted to, candles, bare flames and barbecues, that could cause a fire hazard.

Can you tell me about Insurance?
Increase of risk - The Hirer and their agents and servants will not, without the written authority of the Venue Manager, do or suffer to be done anything in the Civic Hall whereby any policy of insurance on the Civic or its facilities or equipment may become void or voidable or whereby the rate of premium may be increased. The Civic Hall does not take any responsibility for the Hirer’s property.

Do I need Public liability Insurance?
At all times while using the venue under the authority of the terms and conditions of hire, the Hirer will effect and keep current a public liability insurance policy for the sum of not less than ten million dollars.
The Hirer will supply a Certificate of Currency with each booking agreement to the Venue Manager. Contact the venue manager for exclusions to this for weddings and one off hires.
